If your vehicle has a bad fuse, you could be dealing with a more significant problem as fuses are a safety feature on your vehicle. In most cases, a fuse dies when there is too much electrical current runs through it. For example, if the anti-lock brakes are installed with a 10amp fuse, and the brake system receives over 10amps of electrical current, the fuse will fail. In this situation, your anti-lock brakes could fail due to the failed fuse. Lights flickering on the dashboard could also be signs the alternator is dying. Think of it like this, you use battery power to start your vehicle, but the alternator provides the power when your vehicle is running. If you drive an older vehicle with halogen lights, you may see them gradually get dimmer with a failing alternator. On new cars with LED or HID lights, they may flicker on and off or stop working altogether.
A bad light switch, whether it’s the headlight switch knob or the interior dimmer, also needs to be checked out when you have flickering car lights. In some uncommon situations, just replacing a worn switch might solve the problem, especially in vehicles with excessive wear or older cars. If your car doesn’t fall into either category, there’s a possibility it could be a sign of a bigger issue with the car’s electrical system.
