Range Rover Evoque vs Audi Q5

Range Rover Evoque

Luxury SUVs like the Range Rover Evoque and the Audi Q5 feature premium style, exciting power under the hood, and stand tall on top of a durable drivetrain. So, which one is right for you?

Land Rover Albuquerque put this Evoque vs. Q5 comparison together to help drivers in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and South Valley decide.

Range Rover Evoque vs Audi Q5: Specs

The Range Rover Evoque offers two exciting engines. The most powerful option is a sporty Ingenium 2.0L 4-cylinder Turbocharged engine that gets up to 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This works with a versatile 9-speed automatic transmission.

This powertrain offers you a capable and efficient drive. The 2019 Evoque can get up to an EPA-estimated 22 MPG city and 29 MPG highway.

The Audi Q5 doesn’t give you any options. Only one powertrain is available. It runs on a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that gets up to 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. While its Tiptronic® feature also allows you to shift without a clutch, it uses only a 7-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to being less powerful, it’s also not as efficient. While it offers the same kind of fuel economy downtown, the Q5 will likely need to stop for gas sooner on long drives thanks with its EPA-estimated 22 MPG city and 27 MPG highway.

Range Rover Evoque vs Audi Q5: Capability

Both the Range Rover Evoque and Audi Q5 come with standard all-wheel drive. Each one also features a ground clearance above eight inches, so you can confidently drive over obstacles or through streams.

Range Rover Reliability

The Range Rover sets itself apart though, with its Terrain Response® system. It monitors your drive and offers selectable driving modes that are designed for specific situations, including:

  • General Driving
  • Mud & Ruts
  • Grass, Gravel, Snow
  • Sand

The Audi Q5 features the brand’s signature quattro® system. While it does deliver stable traction, the driving modes it offers aren’t as capable. It groups all the rugged terrains listed above into just Offroad mode.

The Range Rover Evoque also uses All Terrain Progress Control to maintain traction on slick ground. This low speed cruise control allows your wheels to keep moving at a safe, consistent speed, even when they’re dealing with ice or wet sand.

The Audi Q5 is great at gripping the road, but it doesn’t have anything like All Terrain Progress Control.

Range Rover Evoque vs Audi Q5: Design

The Range Rover Evoque is a sleek compact SUV that’s available in two distinct styles. The first is a traditional 4-door SUV with either a fixed roof or a fixed panoramic glass roof that lets lots of light in. If you want to feel the wind when you drive, too, you can opt for the second style, a convertible.

The Range Rover Evoque convertible features a Z-folding Convertible Roof System that can automatically fold up or down in just 18 seconds. It’s a great option whether you’re off-roading in the desert or running errands around town.

The Audi Q5 is only available as a hard-top SUV. While it does offer a panoramic sun roof, it doesn’t give you the option to have a sleek glass roof or drop the top and feel more connected with your drive.

Range Rover Evoque vs Audi Q5: Technology

Quick and Easy Financing

Both the Land Rover model and Audi feature a user-friendly infotainment system. Each one gives you a high-resolution screen in your dashboard that’s Bluetooth® compatible and can take you on the best route with a navigation system.

The system inside the Range Rover is a little easier to control. The Touch Pro™ system has a 10.2-inch touchscreen positioned in the center of your dashboard. The screen inside the Audi is smaller and poorly placed. Its MMI® interface puts an 8.3-inch screen on top of your dashboard. The combination of a smaller screen and an obstructed view of the road makes the system less desirable.

While both systems let you stream music and take hands-free calls, the Range Rover delivers more awareness during your drive. It builds on the Rear Camera by letting you check up front, too. With Clearsight Ground View, your dashboard screen can show you what’s in your way with a camera on your front bumper. This is a great tool for when you’re off-roading or inching closer to the curb in a parking lot.

The Audi Q5 also has a Rear Camera that helps you check behind you when you back up, but it doesn’t offer a front bumper view like the Range Rover Evoque.
