Range Rover vs Land Cruiser Performance Specs

Land Rover Range Rover PerformanceWhen it comes to the Land Rover Range Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser, you get two SUVs that perform well both on- and off-road. On the smooth, city streets and open highways, you get a comfortable and composed ride. Then, these vehicles feel equally as at home when going off the beaten path.

The Range Rover offers four engine options, with varying degrees of power and efficiency. If you really want to put the pedal to the metal, opt for the available 5.0L V8 that churns out 557 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Unfortunately, the Land Cruiser only offers one engine option, a 5.7L V8. This engine then delivers just 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque for your daily commutes.

The Land Rover is more fuel-efficient, too, achieving up to an EPA-estimated 17 city/23 highway MPG. The Toyota, on the other hand, achieves an EPA-estimated 13 city/18 highway MPG. So, whether you’re driving to work or planning a weekend excursion, you may want to drive around in the Range Rover.

Off-Roading Capabilities

When it comes to off-road travels, the Range Rover and Land Cruiser really shine in their performances.

The Range Rover offers lots of features to do some serious off-roading. It comes with Terrain Response®, which lets you manually choose from seven settings, including:

  • Comfort
  • Dynamic
  • Eco

Then, the available Terrain Response® 2 can automatically select a setting to get you your most ideal experience on the road. Additionally, there’s All-Terrain Progress Control. This feature allows you to maintain a steady speed on more challenging surfaces, such as mud or wet grass. It functions when you’re driving between 1 and 18 MPH, so you can fully concentrate on finding a path through obstacles.

The Toyota Land Cruiser offers similar features to the ones mentioned above. However, this vehicle’s Multi-terrain Select system has just five modes to choose from. So, it may not perform as well on various road surfaces as the Range Rover could.
